Insofy referrals

How it works

1. Open Profile, then Referrals. Or ask Aura: "What's my referral link?"
2. Accept these rules, and tell us where you live.
3. Copy your link and share it with people you know.
4. When a business or a person signs up through your link and pays, you earn a share of what they pay for their subscription.
5. You see your referrals and earnings in Profile, under Referrals.

What you earn

The milestones are a guide. Insofy decides when a stage ends, at its discretion, and gives notice before it ends.

• You earn on the subscription fee actually paid, before sales tax, minus discounts, refunds and chargebacks.
• You earn only on accounts that sign up through your link, not on anyone they refer.
• You don't earn on call-minute or credit top-ups, or on anything paid with credit, a coupon or a free period.
• Earnings are in the currency of the invoice. Where we convert, we use the Bank of Canada rate on the day the earning settles.

The stage you keep

• A sign-up through your link reserves the stage that is live that day.
• If they first pay within 90 days, that stage is locked in for them. If they first pay later, they get the stage live on the day they pay.
• The term runs from their first paid month for the stage's length. Every payment inside that window earns, including after a break. Months without a payment earn nothing and still count. Nothing earns after the window ends. A yearly payment counts one twelfth per month, for the months inside the window.
• We announce a stage's end date here and by email, at least 4 weeks ahead. A stage's end does not change referrals already locked in.

Who can refer

• Anyone with an Insofy personal account, 18 or older and of the age of majority where they live.
• You must live in Canada outside Quebec, or in the United States. We don't offer referral rewards in Quebec yet. We will add more places over time.
• Business accounts can't refer. A business owner refers from their own personal account.

Who counts as your referral

• A new account, business or personal, that signs up through your link.
• Our site remembers the first referral link opened in a browser, for 30 days. A sign-up in that browser counts for that link, if its owner had accepted these rules before the sign-up. Another device or cleared cookies may lose the link.
• A referral can't be added after sign-up.
• These don't count:
  • your own second account;
  • a business you are an admin of;
  • an account that shares your payment card;
  • a fake account, or an account someone opens on your behalf.

Getting paid

• Each month's earnings settle 30 days after the payment clears.
• We pay settled earnings by the 15th of the next month, once you have C$50 or US$50. Example: a payment that clears January 10 settles February 9 and is paid by March 15.
• A smaller balance is paid when a referral's term ends, or 12 months after it settled.
• We may hold a payout while we check a referral. If your payout or tax details show you live outside an eligible place, those earnings are void.
• Canada: Interac e-Transfer to your email. United States: PayPal or Wise to your email. We pay the sending fees. We never ask for your bank account number.
• At your first payout we ask for:
  • Canada: your SIN or business number, needed for your T4A slip, and your GST/HST number if you are registered;
  • United States: a W-9, plus your confirmation that you live in the US and refer from outside Canada.
• We send tax slips where the law requires: a T4A in Canada above C$500 a year, and a 1099-NEC in the US at US$2,000 or more a year.
• Earnings exclude GST/HST. If you are registered, we add it, and your payout statement is your invoice.

How to share

• Say it every time, beside the link: "I get a commission if you sign up through this link."
• You may post the link under your own name, on your own pages and accounts.
• Send it only to people you know personally, or who asked you for it. Don't send bulk email, texts or messages to people who didn't ask. Don't use bought lists.
• Describe Insofy only as insofy.com does.
• Don't run paid search ads on "Insofy" or its misspellings. Don't make pages that look like ours, and don't present yourself as Insofy.
• If you belong to a professional body, such as an accounting body, check its rules on commissions first.

Referrals that break these rules are void, and we may close the link. Valid referrals made before that keep paying.

What you see, and what your referrals see

• You see each referral as "a business" or "a person", its stage, whether it pays, and your earnings as monthly totals. You don't see names, plans or amounts per referral.
• A person signing up through your link is told this, and sees your Insofy ID, not your name. They can choose to sign up without a referral.

The fine print

• These rules are an agreement between you and Inductive Solution Inc., of Ontario, Canada. Ontario law applies. You are not our employee or agent.
• Rewards are void where the law prohibits them. You are responsible for following the rules where you live.
• We may change these rules with 4 weeks' notice, here and by email. A rule change or a stage end doesn't change referrals already locked in, except where the law requires.
• If we close the program or sell the company, locked referrals keep earning for 12 months after the notice, or until their term ends if that comes sooner.
• We may correct a referral that a tracking failure missed, when the failure is documented.
• We may reverse earnings from an invalid referral. A later refund or chargeback is offset against future earnings.
• We keep tax forms for 6 years after your last payout, outside our main systems.
